Spiritual Stewards

(Luke 17,20-21)

Jesus said that the kingdom of God does not come by observation. The kingdom of God is an invisible and spiritual and kingdom. He continued by saying: ”For indeed, the kingdom of God IS WITHIN YOU!”

The Bible explains this further by saying that the kingdom of God moves into us in the moment we get born again.

But since we are saved and born again, this means we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.

(Romans 8,16-17)

This means that every child of God and every singel member of Gods church on earth, are spiritual stewards. WE ARE STEWARDS OF GODS KINGDOM!

(Luke 22,29)

”Now I commit you the kingdom, just as my father has given it over to me” (Norvegian translation)

”Now I transfer the kingdom to you, just as my father has transferred it to me” (Direct translation from the greek text).

When you buy a property, you also get a title on the property. You get a document declaring that this is your property. It has been transferred to you from the previous owner.

It is exactly the same concerning the kingdom of God.

JESUS HAS TRANSFERRED THE DOCUMENT OF THE KINGDOM TO US!!!

  1. HOW DID JESUS MANAGE THE KINGDOM OF GOD?

(Matthew 24,14)

”And THIS gospel of the kingdom…”

Which gospel do we preach? Do we preach the same gospel as Jesus and His apostles did?

It is not a powerless message Jesus proclaims, it is the whole salvation of the world. And it has a great power!

It is therefore very important to study Jesus and see what gospel He represented when He walked here on earth. In the synagogue in Nazareth He proclaimed His whole mission:

(Luke 4,18-19)

What was the ingredients of His mission?                The ingredients of the Gospel:

-           Preaching the gospel to the poor                   (Preaching)

-           Healing the brokenhearted                            (Inner healing, emotional and mental)

-           Proclaiming liberty to the captives          (Deliverance from sin and the power of Satan)

-           And recovery of sight to the blind                (Physically healing)

-           To set at liberty those who are oppressed     (Deliverance from demons)

-           Proclaiming the acceptable year of the Lord (Grace and forgiveness)

John the Baptist once sent his disciples to ask Jesus if He really is The Comming One.

And notice what answer Jesus gave to them.

(Luke 7,18-23)

”Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard:”

-           The blind see

-           The lame walk

-           The lepers are cleansed

-           The deaf hear

-           The dead are raised

-           Preaching of the gospel to the poor

You could say that healing and deliverance was ”the trademark” of Jesus!

Some people say that the 4 gospels only tell stories about how Jesus healed some individuals, but that was only for them.

Butt hen what about these scriptures:

(Mark 6,56)

Look at this: ”…And as many as touched Him were made well.”

Do you see this? Jesus did not hold back the healing just for some chosen individuals. It was for everyone! Just go and touch Him!

The bible says that Jesus was anointed to set he captures free.

(Acts 10,38)

  1. HOW DID THE APOSTLES MANAGE THE KINGDOM OF GOD?

(Acts 8,5-8)

When Filip came to Samaria, he followed a very simple recipe to awakening and revival.

It does not stand that he started a fast for 3 months, prayed against the evil power in the town for half a year, tried to get friend with the people first etc.

Neither does it stand that he held a silent devotional or started a mission comittee!

NO!! HE PREACHED CHRIST TO THEM!!! AND THERE WAS GREAT JOY IN THAT CITY!!!

There will always be joy where Christ is beeing preached and the gospel proclaimed.

Do you know why? BECAUSE GOD CONFIRMS THE GOSPEL WITH MIRACLES, SIGNS AND WONDERS!!

God doesn’t confirm your arguments and point of view. He only confirms His own word!

(Mark 16,20)

  1. HOW TO MANAGE THE KINGDOM OF GOD TODAY?

I believe that it is very important, and urgent, that the church today discover the common thread in The Great Misssion Command.

1.         First, Jesus sent out His twelve disciples, and gave them power and authority to preach

and to heal the sick.

(Luke 9,1-2 and 6)

2.                   Then He sent out the seventy, to do exactly the same.

(Luke 10,1-2 and 8-9)

3.                   Finally He turned to all the disciples in all times with exactly the same mission!

(Matthew 28,18-20)

”Teaching them to observe…” This means to keep and to practice all what Jesus said and did.

We must preach the same message, and do the same works that Jesus taught His first disciples. All what Jesus taught them, He also taught us to do!

This should be teached and practised IN EVERY GENERATION until the returning of Christ!

(John 14,12)

We must do the same works as Jesus did!

”And he who overcomes, AND KEEPS MY WORKS until the end, to him I will give power over the nations…”

(Revelations 2,26)

”How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation…… God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?”

(Hebrews 2,2-3)

(Mark 16,17-18 and 20)

”… and these signs will follow THOSE WHO BELIEVE…”

Who did Jesus say the signs will follow?

-           The evangelist?

-           The pastor?

-           The prophet?

-           Only some chosen believers?

NO!!! THE BELIEVER MEANS YOU AND ME!!!!

These are the ingredients of the kingdom, and these are the works that we must keep and practise. Doing this we are good stewards of the kingdom of God…
